Ahmad Mira is one of the most prominent independent Kurdish journalists in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Ahmad Mira is one of the journalistic team that changed the style of Kurdish journalism from party journalism to freelance journalism


Ahmad Mira was the editor-in-chief of Lvin magazine, which was founded on November 2, 2002 in Iraqi Kurdistan. It was a political criticism magazine, the most widely distributed and impartial private magazine in South Kurdistan and the best-selling magazine in Iraq

Ahmad Mira and his staff have received several death threats from the ruling parties in South Kurdistan for publishing Lvin magazine

After several threats, two members of the magazine were assassinated: Sorani Mama Hama, who was martyred on 21/7/2008, and Abdul Star, who was martyred on 5/3/2

Ahmad Mira himself has been threatened with death several times and imprisoned dozens of times in the prison of Kurdistan political forces, the most prominent of which was on 17/4/2007 when he was in solitary confinement and later released

In addition to his journalism, Ahmad Mira holds a doctorate and is a lecturer at Halabja University and He is one of the prominent teachers of the university

In addition to his doctorate, Ahmed Mira has received several journalism courses from international organizations such as ( irex, IWPR, MDI and many others )

Ahmad Mira is a journalism trainer himself, having conducted hundreds of journalism courses and trainings at home and abroad

Ahmad Mira has been one of the most prominent poles of demonstrations and protests in Iraqi Kurdistan

  In 2012, Ahmad Mira, editor-in-chief of Lvin magazine, and Shuan Mohammed, editor-in-chief of Awene newspaper, were invited by the Swedish Parliament to represent the free media in Kurdistan
