English: This painting by Yousef Abdinejad, entitled "Martyrdom of Imam Ali," depicts Abd-al-Rahman ibn Muljam immediately prior to assassinating Ali, the fourth Rashidun caliph. Muljam is painted in a fierce reddish colour scheme, whereas Ali and the angels present exhibit bright and comparatively calm colours, emphasising the moral imbalance between the two parties. The angels are visibly distressed by the incident, and a few of them attempt to restrain Muljam.
