دروستکردنی مزگەوتی ئەمەوی لە ساڵی ٧٠٥ی زایینی لەلایەن وەلید کوڕی عەبدولمەلیکەوە دەستیپێکرد و فارس و ھیندییەکانی بۆی کۆکردەوە و ئیمپراتۆری بیزەنتین سەد ھونەرمەندی یۆنانی نارد بۆ ئەوەی بەشداری لە ڕازاندنەوەکەدا بکەن، و ستایش و وەسفێکی زۆری لێکرا، بە تایبەت لەلایەن گەشتیاران و مێژوونووسان و نووسەرانەوە کە بە درێژایی سەدەکان بەلای دیمەشقدا تێدەپەڕین، بە تایبەتی ستایشی ڕازاندنەوەی سەقفی مزگەوتەکە و دیوارە مۆزایکییەکانی ڕەنگاوڕەنگ و مەڕمەڕیان دەکرد کە لە بیناسازیدا بەکاردێت؛ بەڵام زۆربەیان لەسەر بنەمای ئەو فەتوایانە سڕدرانەوە کە ڕێگەپێدراو نەبوون تا لە ساڵی ١٩٢٨دا دووبارە دۆزرایەوە و نۆژەنکرانەوە. مێژوونووس فیلیپ ھیتی بەم شێوەیە وەسفی کردووە کە «نوێنەرایەتی پیشەسازی نەتەوەیی سووریا دەکات نەک ھونەری یۆنانی یان بیزەنتین».

ھەروەھا مزگەوتی ئەمەوی جیا دەکرێتەوە کە یەکەم مزگەوتە کە میحراب و حنییەتی تێدا دەرکەوتووە لە ئەنجامی شێوازی بیناسازی کە پێشتر کڵێسای یۆحەنا موعەمەدانی لەخۆگرتبوو. سەبارەت بە منارەی باکووری کە کۆنترین سێ منارەیە، مێژووەکەی دەگەڕێتەوە بۆ سەردەمی وەلید کوڕێ عەبدولمەلیک. ھەروەھا وەک مەنارەیەک بۆ شاری دیمەشق بەکاردەھێنرا و لە سەدەکانی ناوەڕاستدا بۆ ئەوەی خەڵک نوێژ بکەن و لەوێشەوە مۆدێلی منارە چوارگۆشەکە بۆ ھەموو ناوچەکانی سووریا و باکووری ئەفریقا و ئەندەلوس بڵاوبووەوە.

مزگەوتەکە شوێنی ناشتنی تەرمی یۆحەنای مووعەممەدان - پێغەمبەر یەحیا - تێدایە و ھیچ شتێک لە شوێنەوارە مەسیحییەکانی نەماوە جگە لە تەشتی عەماد و نووسراوێک بە زمانی یۆنانی کە ستایشی مەسیح دەکات لەسەر یەکێک لە دیوارەکان. ھەروەھا مزگەوتەکە ئەو کونەی تێدایە کە سەری حوسێن کوڕی عەلی تێیدا دانرابوو کاتێک گواسترایەوە بۆ دیمەشق. گۆڕستانێک بە مزگەوتەکەوە بەسترابووەوە کە ڕووفاتی سەڵاحەددینی ئەییووبی تێدابوو.
