سوورییەکان (بە عەرەبی: سوریون) زۆرینەی دانیشتووانی سووریان،لە پێشوودا شام، کە زمانی عەرەبی، بەتایبەتی زاراوەی شامی و میزۆپۆتامیایان وەک زمانی دایک ھەیە. میراتی کولتووری و زمانەوانی گەلی سووریا تێکەڵەیەک لە ھەردوو توخمە ڕەسەنەکان و ئەو کولتوورە بیانیانەیە کە لە ماوەی ھەزاران ساڵدا ھاتوون حوکمڕانی خاک و گەلەکەی بکەن. تا سەدەی حەوتەم زۆربەی دانیشتووانی شام بە زمانی ئارامیی قسەیان دەکرد. لە سەدەکانی دوای فەتحی ئیسلامی لە ساڵی ٦٣٤، زمانی عەرەبی بووە زمانی باڵادەست، بەڵام کەمینەیەکی سوورییەکان زمانی ئارامیی (سووری)یان پاراستووە، کە تا ئێستاش بە شێوەزارە ڕۆژھەڵاتی و ڕۆژاوایییەکانی قسەی پێدەکرێت.

ناوی نەتەوەیی «سووریا» لە سەردەمی کۆندا بۆ ئاماژەدان بە دانیشتووانی شام بەکارھاتووە. دوابەدوای فەتحکردنی موسڵمانان بۆ سەر شام، ناسنامەی عەرەب زاڵ بوو و ناوی نەتەوەیی «سووریا» بە شێوەیەکی سەرەکی لەلایەن مەسیحییەکانەوە بەکارھێنرا کە بە زمانی سریانی قسەیان دەکرد. لە سەدەی نۆزدەھەمدا ناوی «سووریا» لە نێو عەرەبی زمانەکانی شامدا زیندوو بووەوە. دوای دامەزراندنی شانشینی عەرەبی سووریا لە ساڵی ١٩٢٠، ناوی «سووریا» دەستی بە بڵاوبوونەوە کرد لەنێو دانیشتووانی عەرەبی زماندا. ئەم زاراوەیە لە کاتی ئیختیاری بۆ سووریا و لوبنان گرنگییەکی زیاتری بەدەستھێنا، بووە ناوی نیشتمانی پەسەندکراو بۆ عەرەب زمانەکانی کۆماری سووریا.

زۆربەی سوورییە عەرەبی زمانەکان خۆیان وەک عەرەب دەناسێنن و بەھۆی زمانی مۆدێرن و پەیوەندییان بە کولتوور و مێژووی عەرەبییەوە بەو شێوەیە وەسف دەکرێن؛ بەڵام لە ڕاستیدا ئەوان لە ڕووی بۆماوەیییەوە تێکەڵەیەکن لە گرووپە جیاوازەکانی سامی قسەکەر کە خەڵکی ڕەسەنی ناوچەکەن. ھیچ دژایەتییەک لە نێوان عەرەببوون و سوورییدا نییە بەو پێیەی ناسنامەی عەرەبی سووریا فرە چینە و سووری بوون تەواوکەری عەرەببوونە. زاراوەی «سووریا» جگە لەوەی کە عەرەبی سووریا ئاماژەی پێدەکات، ئاماژەیە بۆ ھەموو ھاووڵاتیانی سووریا، بەبێ گوێدانە پێشینەی نەتەوەیی. لە ساڵی ٢٠١٨دا، سووریا ژمارەی دانیشتووانی بە ١٩٫٥ ملیۆن کەس مەزەندە دەکرێت، کە جگە لەو زۆرینەی پێشتر باسمان کرد، کورد و ئاشووری و تورکمان و ئەرمەنی و ئەوانی دیکە لەخۆدەگرێت.

تەنانەت پێش شەڕی ناوخۆی سووریاش، ڕەوەندێکی زۆری سووریا ھەبوون کە کۆچیان کردبوو بۆ ئەمریکای باکوور (ئەمریکا و کەنەدا)، وڵاتانی ئەندامی یەکێتی ئەورووپا (لەوانەش سوید، فەرەنسا و ئەڵمانیا)، ئەمریکای باشوور (بە شێوەیەکی سەرەکی لە بەرازیل، ئەرجەنتین، ڤەنزوێلا و شیلی)، وێست ئیندز، ئەفریقا، ئوسترالیا و نیووزلەندا. ھەروەھا ئێستا شەش ملیۆن پەنابەری شەڕی ناوخۆی سووریا لە دەرەوەی سووریا دەژین، زۆربەیان لە تورکیا، میسر، ئوردن، لوبنان، ئەڵمانیا و ھەروەھا سوید.
